Welcome to the official shop of the Association Bosnian Family (BOSFAM). Through “Bosnian tradition, beauty and work,” we make beautiful, one-of-a-kind, handmade carpets as well as clothing, souvenirs and a variety of gifts.
BOSFAM’s products are unique because they are made by women who survived the war in the 1990s. What began as occupational therapy in the aftermath when many lost their families, grew over the last two decades into an important project to preserve the customs and traditions of Bosnia and giving women the opportunity to make a livelihood and support themselves and their families financially.
BOSFAM was founded in Tuzla, Bosnia and Herzegovina in October 1994 to give the women fleeing their homes in other areas of the country a safe place to work and provide psycho-social support to one another. Many came with young children or older parents and BOSFAM provided a way for the women to earn a desperately-needed income.
Over the last two decades, BOSFAM has continued to support women in the community. In addition to connecting women to a market for their handcrafted goods, BOSFAM has initiated a number of projects to give women a therapeutic outlet to commemorate their perished loved ones and help their communities rebuild.
